School Outreach Program
The Taipei Symphony Orchestra (TSO) is committed to promoting music education and professional performance. In 2016, TSO launched two pilot schemes: Music Theatre for Elementary School Children and Dreams Come True—Musical Instrument Learning Project. In 2018, they were officially expanded into the School Outreach Programme, which consists of two initiatives: One School, One Orchestra and Campus Music Theatre. As a way for the TSO to fulfill its social responsibility as a government-funded orchestra, the two initiatives bring a range of music education courses into elementary schools, enriching artistic development and aesthetic appreciation among students. Music promotion and educational programs are being used to gradually create cultural equity and a public that appreciates and participates in musical performances.
The success of the School Outreach Program is down to the time, love and patience of each teacher and student. The TSO is very grateful to the schools and teachers involved for their support of music learning, especially during the challenging times of the pandemic, sticking to the core values of music education: self-discipline, discipline and artistic appreciation. It is hoped that this program will enable everyone to experience the importance of cooperation and collective creation in modern society, leading to the ultimate goal of One School, One Orchestra, Music for a Lifetime. The TSO would like to express its appreciation to all students, teachers, schools and staff who participated in this endeavour.
