Presenting Chopin’s Poetic Concerto Masterpiece
Every work by Mahler captures a transformation of the human spirit at different stages of life. While composing his Symphony No. 5, Mahler experienced a dramatic turn of fate—recovering from a near-fatal illness and soon falling in love and marrying the talented Alma Schindler. He wove his physical suffering, the ecstasy of love, and the fleeting nature of life into the fabric of this symphony. Legendary conductor Herbert von Karajan once said, “In Mahler’s Fifth, you forget that time has passed.” A truly powerful performance of the Fifth is a transformative experience.
Laureate Conductor Eliahu Inbal joins forces with the Taipei Symphony Orchestra (TSO) to present the sorrow, tenderness, and passion of Mahler’s Fifth Symphony, guiding the audience on a transcendent journey.
Winner of the Busoni International Piano Competition, Kun-Woo Paik is widely regarded as one of the finest pianists in Asia today. He is a frequent collaborator with top orchestras and conductors around the world, and his recordings have garnered prestigious awards such as the Diapason d'Or.
