2017.10.1(SUN) 【TSO】Okko Kamu & Jean Sibelius

  • From Sibelius’ homeland of Finland, and having twice recorded the composer’s complete symphonies, Okko Kamu is undeniably an authority on matters of interpretation when it comes to the country’s most famous composer. This all-Sibelius program features premier violinist Boris Belkin, first prize winner of the Soviet National competition for Violinists in 1973, performing Sibelius’ superb violin concerto. Belkin has performed with the world’s leading orchestras and conductors. His playing possesses "infinite qualities of song and suppleness" and "strokes of playful elegance.” Kamu, Belkin and the TSO paint a vivid picture of the Finnish master with the pieces on this program.
